Train on the World Cup tracks at the Hellner Stadium.<\/h3>\n

Ahead of the start of the season in the autumn of 2019, 30 000 m\u00b3 of artificial snow is being stored at the Hellner Stadium. This, in combination with a sophisticated system of snow cannons, guarantees high quality tracks early in the season.<\/p>\n

G\u00e4llivare\u2019s unique weather conditions also allow the first tracks on natural snow to open at the end of October\/beginning of November. This means that G\u00e4llivare is perfectly placed to offer a choice of challenging competition tracks as well as the very popular long distance Golf Course tracks.<\/p>\n

The modern infrastructure of the Hellner Stadium includes ski waxing sheds, conference facilities and a well-equipped gym. We can also offer indoor training on ski treadmills for both classic and skate. As from 2017, the Hellner Stadium will be equipped with a Rodby treadmill that can take up to three skiers at the same time!<\/p>\n

National teams from all over the world have benefited from G\u00e4llivare\u2019s high-quality skiing facilities, returning every year in November to train on early snow for performance fine-tuning ahead of the upcoming World Cup Premiere.<\/p>\n

About the Snow Storage Project 2017-2019<\/strong><\/p>\n

SportEvent G\u00e4llivare Lapland has been given funding by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development for a 3-year snow storage pilot project within the framework of Leader Polaris 2020<\/a>.<\/p>\n

During January and February approximately 30 000 m\u00b3 of artificial snow is produced and then stored at two prepared storage sites at the Hellner Stadium. The snow is protected by an insulating layer of sawdust to withstand the effects of sun, heat and rain.<\/p>\n

The stored snow will be uncovered and delivered to the tracks at the end of October. The opening of the tracks is scheduled for the end of October\/beginning of November.<\/p>\n

The aim of this project is to find new ways of meeting the challenges caused by climate change. Being able to offer early training on snow plays a significant part in the region\u2019s tourism industry.<\/p>\n
